Get a second chance with Heyoosh

AI Matchmaker

Project overview

As a design lead freelancer under the Keepod.com brand, I worked on the new version for Heyoosh, focusing mainly on the experience and visual design.

Heyoosh is a dating app that tries to reset the balance of the dating world, from one that is overrun by manipulation, cheap dopamine, and false abundance, to one that is built on real-life experiences and interactions, free of judgment, and fully open and private.

The challenge

Sociologically, the rise of dating apps is to be understood as part of a cultural logic whereby love is no longer primarily organized by social and economic institutions but rather left to the free choice of individuals. Match Group, the owner of Tinder, OkCupid, Hinge, Meetic, Plenty of Fish, OurTime, and a few other dating websites was the first to acknowledge this on a large scale, and since then acquired, incubated, or created most of the dating apps and websites we know today.

Limbic capitalism is a socially regressive business system that which to industries that encourage excessive consumption and addiction for profit, often targeting young people. It relies on providing quick hits of brain reward through pleasurable but non-durable goods and services.

Deep unlearning

A deep process of unlearning had to be done to design a new type of dating and connection experience well. We took a step back from the culture those apps created and got back to the basics of human connection forms. Real-life, personal, slow, focused, and based on mutual interests.

  1. Anonymity — No one should know you are here until you want someone to know.

  2. Openness, no judgment, no pre-defined rules —We provide the safe ground to connect with others, but we do not determine for you who it will be, why, and how.

  3. Draw from real life —There aren’t 1,000 people waiting to swipe on you in real life. We use individual features and conversation-based matching.

  4. No swiping — Well, obviously.

Heyoosh 3.0

The product positioning, from the interface design to the marketing messaging, removes and ignores the pre-defined experiences and false promises. It is minimal, direct, honest, and open to the client’s interpretation. Who are we to tell you how and who to date? Our goal is to provide a safe, fair, and unbiased or defining ground for you to connect with others in real life, and the design and experience cannot harm that mission.

Your AI matchmaker

A.I.M is an unbiased trained matchmaker. Tell it what you're looking for, whatever it is. The client will answer questions and provide the information on what they are looking for in another person, packaged around a great first date and match. AIM has a good sense for understanding sub-context and making connections based on the closeness of intentions.

After AIM gathers enough information, it will securely check for other requests made and start making connections. Because no one will ever see what you wrote, you can pour your heart out to AIM. Say exactly what you feel like you want. No match ‘too much’.
